"Say Hello to My Little Friend !" ~Tony Montana

Found in ... Flick Picks & the Boob-Tube

I have been so lazy lately. I apologize to my reader who will more than likely abandon me for good. I have been a very busy beaver over the last few weeks, and things seem to be coming to an end so I can now take a few minutes to contribute to BerfNet.

I wanted to talk about a movie I watched last night that I haven't seen in a dogs age -corny line I know- and that flick is Brian De Palma's 1983 classic Scarface. I think I am going to add this movie to my next DVD shoping frenzy, because it is one of those flicks I think I can watch almost anytime. Seriously I am ranking it that high on my list -for those of you who don't know, other titles that I hold in this manner are Jaws, Star Wars and Two Girls and a Guy to name a few-. Number 1 bonus of the movie is unquestionably the performance of Al Pacino as Tony Montana. He is frik'n nuts but yet inspiring due to his powerful motivation and life lessons.

In this country, you gotta make the money first. Then when you get the money, you get the power. Then when you get the power, then you get the women.

Amigo, the only thing in this world that gives orders is balls. Balls. You got that?

There are so many more, but that will do to get my point across. Bonus 2 of Scarface is Michelle Pfeiffer as Elvira. She is absolutely smoking in this role -of course I like the skinny coked up chick look-. The dialog is great minus an unconvincing Cuban accent from Robert Loggia which reminded me how happy I get when he is finally taken out. The move is also a smart interpretation between old management and new management -which is an argument my father and I have from time to time-. Frank portraying the side of old management; easy paced, straight and narrow, not very creative, you know the "If it ain't broke don't fix it" mentality. On the other side you have the young and hungry Tony or new management, sporting his creative thinking and perusing outside the box, fighting for change and expansion. Now much like in the real world, when Tony proposes his new ideas to Frank, they are seen as the actions of a cowboy and quickly rejected -much like many young creative minds-. So Tony leaves to generate his own business, and who do you think takes over control?

Any way I'm rambling, to sum up Scarface is a killer flick and I am convinced must have for any collection. I sure plan on picking up the special anniversary edition for my library.

I may be a slacker - a modern day Bill Murray type - but that doesn't mean I don't know what I'm talking about. I have the type of readers that live the slacker way and plainly enjoy life. If this is your demographic why not sponsor my ass. I could use the help, so if you're interested Click here to learn more about sponsorship opportunities. Thanks.
