Pandora: by the Music Genome Project
Found in ... Music That I like
I have been recently introduced to Pandora. Pandora is a Flash application which allows you to enter you preferred music taste by artist or song title. It then searched it's database for not only that artist or song but then compiles a "playlist" based of the criteria of that selection. It works like this:
I typed in Nine Inch Nails, it then played Into the void, then Mechanical Animals by Marilyn Manson, then Orgy then Superbeast by Rob Zombie and back to Nine Inch Nails with The Day the World Went Away.
Type in the search and sit back and enjoy the playlist, if you hate something you can guide the system which not only goes to the next song, but helps the AI for the next time.
You get four or five songs, but then you have to create an account, which is free so don't panic. You can then listen until you're blue in the face. Check it out and tell me what you think.
Special Visit from Beethoven Radio's Dan Maselli
Found in ... Brain Spill , Music That I like
This is very cool. Ways back I posted Soothing Sanity, noting how I enjoyed listening to while I was working. Now I see that D.J Dan Maselli has left a comment on the site. This is great; not only does this mean that BerfNet continues to get new exposure -not bad for a blog on random crap- but it also emphasizes the point I made on how cool these D.J's are.
I may not be a classical music buff, but it sure does calm me down ... the station has very down to earth D.J's like Dan Maselli. Here is the comment left by Dan:
Hey! Thanks for the props. It is nice to be considered "down to earth". This is a tough business to just be a regular down to earth person, but I try like hell. I am glad that the music soothes. Keep in touch, Dan Maselli Mornings 8-12 Beethoven Radio.
If you're not familiar with the site, Beethoven Radio broadcasts over the web and has listeners from all over the world and I know this because when you make a request the D.J tells us who made the request and were they are from. A few of my favorite times of the day are the 11:00 matinee -were thay play pieces from your favorite flicks-, the 2:00 movie -same thing-, mid morning Mozart, and the 5:00 rock (?) -were they play orchestras covering rock tunes-. So check it out, not only will it help keep you relaxed and focused at work, but you will also learn about classical music -which is much cooler than you would think- and put a bit of culture in your life.

Fantômas or Super Mario Brothers?
Found in ... Music That I like
UPDATED: I wrote this post late last night after going out to dinner with a friend, so I was a bit tired and did not have my creative cap on - of course not many of these are very creative, yet I try -. The main reason I linked to Bukezilla was because of the sample track from the upcomming release of Fantômas's new album Suspended Animation. Bukezilla and I are big fans of Fantômas, and we are even planing a trip to Toronto to see them live, which will be an experience if I can get the time off from work. If your not familiar with the experimental sounds of Fantômas, ask Bukezilla all about them he would be happy to teach you the ways.
Bukezilla thanks for the great link I havn't herd new Fantômas in a long time. A bit over due don't you agree? I hope I can make it to Toronto! The cover lookes great.

Happy Birthday Buke Daddy
Found in ... Music That I like
Late last night my comerade Bukezilla published his sceduled date to travle to Toronto -land of army surplus stores and titty clubs- to see Fantomas on the 15th of April. For those of you who do not know who Fantomas is, well I will tell you; and hopfully Buke can better explain. Fantomas is a group that Mike Patton put together, they are loud, odd and rather experimental. They F'n rock. So check out the post and leave a comment for Bukezilla.

The Mr. Bungle Divorce
Found in ... Music That I like
My good friend Buke sent me a mail this morning with a link pointing to RollingStone News with an interesting story about the break-up of Mr. Bungle. For those of you who do not know who Mr. Bungle is, they were a very experimental type band, who had some great albums. They would only get together every few years to record albums, since all of the members were in other bands. But now front man Mike Patton tells RollingStone why the band is no more.
"I'm at a point now where I crave healthy musical environments, where there is a genuine exchange of ideas without repressed envy or resentment, and where people in the band want to be there regardless of what public accolades may come their way; Unfortunately, Mr. Bungle was not one of those places."It has been a sad week for those who like this type of music. First the event with Dimebag, and now this. Who will step up and be our next hero?

Day of Heavy Metal Morning
Found in ... Music That I like
This morning I was shocked to hear that X Pantera guitarist Dimebag Darrell aka Darrell Abbott was shot and killed by a crazed fan at last nights performance in Columbus Ohio. Better known for his slick hardcore riffs as the lead guitarist of the ever popular band Pantera, Dimebag was conciderd one of the worlds best heavy metal performers. Recently touring with his new band Danger Plan, Dimebag was gun down by 5 rounds to the chest. Also killed in the attack was one other member of the band -identity unknown at this time-. The shooter after killing Dimebag and other band member, turned and opened fire into the crowd. A total of 4 deaths accrued before police shot and killed the disgruntled fan. Today is truly a shock to the rock n' roll community, and the millions of fans who will always remember the bad ass from Pantera. RIP Dimebag; RIP.

KMFDM on Holloween
Found in ... Music That I like
Die wunder dieser welt werden dir geschenkt
Well as part of my plan to stay as occupied as possible, the crew and I traveled to one of my favorite cities last night, Rochester N.Y to see one of my favorite bands, KMFDM. This is thier seconed year to play Rochester on Holloween, and I must say it was one hell of a show. The venu was the always punk rock Water St. Music Hall, and even though I have been there many times, I always seem to get a bit lost finding the f@#!n place. But find it we did, and we all had a blast, Buke more so than others, but hey KMFDM is part of that dudes inner sound track.
This was also the fist time I have seen the band with there new chick signer, Lucia Cifarelli. Wow can she belt out a voice, and she is also pretty easy on the eyes.

Well all in all a great time had by all, and I think a few of us are going to head back the day after Thanksgiving to check out Ministry.

Soothing Sanity
Found in ... Music That I like

This web site keeps me sane at work. I caught on to it while earning my masters at RIT. It really helps when you get frustrated or bothered. I so happen to get that way during the day from time to time, and even though I may not be a classical music buff, it sure does calm me down. Check out Beethoven Radio and its down to earth D.J's like Dan Maselli.
