NASA back to moon in 2008!
Found in ... Some Kind`a News
for the first time since Apollo, NASA will be sending its first vehicle/probe to the moon in 2008! sweet!
Me: I personally think this is great news. Now I'm not an armature astrologist by any means, but I am a big supporter of the space program. I think the exploration of space needs to harvest more attention. I have always said, if we were to learn that there was valuable resources on the moon, then companies would be quickly engineering ways to collect these resources. Thus, some type of plant would need to be established to process these resources, and of course they would need all sorts of workers on this plant.
I would rush to the opportunity to become one of those workers. I'm sure IT would be needed on the plant?

A Pirates Life for Me: Disney Sponsors US Crew for Volvo Ocean Race
Found in ... Some Kind`a News
This is a really cool boat if you ask me, and I am seriously jealous of all of the crew who will be sailing it in Volvo's Ocean Race Around the World. For those of you who have no idea what I'm writing about here, the Race around the World is held every three years and has been going on since 1973. The fleet of yacht racers from all over the world ship out of SANXENXO (GALICIA) and finish up 8 months later in ROTTERDAM (NED). This years US crew is being sponsored by Disney to help promote the sequel to "Pirates of the Caribbean".
Dick Cook, chairman of The Walt Disney Studios, said: 'We're excited to be participating in the prestigious Volvo Ocean Race, which is very much like the 'formula one' of yacht racing. This is a fun and unique way to remind viewers all over the world that Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest will be sailing into theatres next summer. Given the film's high seas adventures and nautical themes, this marathon sporting event is a great way to make some waves and generate awareness among the millions of viewers.'The 'Pirates' campaign will be headed by Atlant Ocean Racing, the syndicate company of Richard Brisius and Johan Salen.

What would I do with out Gina over at Life Hacker gathering great info for me to pawn off as my own? This article covers occupations which are more likely to receive bonuses. Porn Masters Have New Rules to Follow via [Life Hacker + Wired News]
So interesting the online adult industry is, if I could only drop my morals I would attempt to become the porn king of the Queen City. Well I wont so I guess I will have to conitue reading about it, like in this article from Wired news which discusses new restrictions and paper work envolved when displaying adult content on the web. Apparently Porn Masters will need to provide age verification documents for all of the models/actors appearing on the site, else remove that content or pay the penalty. At first I thought this was no big deal, I mean they should be keeping a tight grasp on the whole age thing anyway -remember Tracy Lords-, but I read on and learn that even on sites that steal images from elsewhere on the net must have this documentation. So it would be logical that within the rollout of this new enforcement, porn masters that are simply redistributing content will be shutting down and that the industry leaders will have the primary advantage since they can have the proper documentation.

I am truly surprised that it took Kevin Smith this long to hop on the Blogger wagon since I feel that he is one of the brighter people of the entertainment industry. The site is OK, there are some major flaws in the design which will make it difficult for readers to get into it. For one there are no titles on the posts, just dates. Which as a journal is fine, but I failed to read much since I couldn't get an idea of the post subject matter at a glance. Also he is only displaying 1 post per page which makes navigating a pain in the boring ass. The site is developed using Word Press which is a so-so product and commenting and trackbacks are enabled -which is good-. Kevin is also using Flickr which is probably the only blog standard he is following. Still it's Kevin Smith and he normally breaks the norm.

This is fairly interesting to the I.T world. This article points out that even though XP has been out for 4+ years and MS Longhorn is on its way, many companies continue to deploy machines running Win 2K. I see this on a regular basis, but the author fails to mention the dangers an I.T shop can encounter when upgrading to the newest freshest package. Jaws Strikes During 30th Anniversary

The director of a leading shark research center who examined pictures of Ryan's wounds said the teen was lucky to be alive. Happy Belated 4/20 - I'll Give You 1 Guess as to Why I Forgot!
Found in ... Some Kind`a News
Yesterday was the day of days for pot heads all around the world. A famous holiday that is celebrated all day long every year on April 20th. That would be 4.20 the national pot smoking holiday. For those of you who are not educated in the "head" way, 420 is the code for a police marijuana bust, so in our rebellious manner we celebrate that number by lighting up every day at 4:20 (am & pm). But once a year it is 4.20 all day long, smokers rejoice, dance -if they can move-, eat -we certainly eat- and pass the spliff to the left hand side. Personally I no longer celebrate this holiday (wink wink; ignore the picture of the Bull Dog Cafe) since I'm all grown up now, but I always think back to my youth and become rather melancholily. How did you celebrate your 420?

Adobe Acquires Macromedia Creating a Software Power House
Found in ... Some Kind`a News , Technoramblings
Watching the business report this morning on channel 7 news -I think the chick is hot- I was shocked to hear that Adobe has acquired Macromedia. Not completely sure this was fact, I went to Macromedia's website to see if there was any sign of change. Already the title flash has Adobe incorporated into it. Is this a good merger? I would think so and it's moments like this where I wish I had more money to play with. I would love to get into some Adobe stock after this news.
April 18 (Bloomberg) -- Adobe Systems Inc., maker of Acrobat and Photoshop software, agreed to buy Macromedia Inc. for about $3.4 billion, adding programs that display images and sounds on Web pages. Investors will receive 0.69 share, worth $41.86 at the close of trading April 15, for each Macromedia share, San Jose, California-based Adobe said in a statement today. That values San Francisco-based Macromedia at a 25 percent premium.I am a hobby user of Fireworks and Photoshop CS, both must haves for web design enthusiasts. I can not even fathom how powerful these applications will become after joining forces.

Silicone Back in Action: Hooray for Boobies

Jesse's Venture: The Anticipated Club Diablo to Open Post May
Found in ... Leisure Time , Some Kind`a News
Those of you who have hung out in Buffalo's oldest Punk Rock bar the Continental, might recognize it's most famous employee Jesse. Ass kicker, bartender, talent booking, manager, store owner [second skin], real estate owner and coming soon night club owner. For years the underground community has been gossiping about the bar Jesse is building and finally our wait comes to a conclusion. Club Diablo is scheduled to have it's grand grand opening some time after May (you can get more information and updates on the clubs process at their web site).
This is great news for the city of Buffalo, which lives and breathes by it's constantly morphing night life. The demographic that the Continental attracts is a small percentage of the total liquor swilling population, and Club Diablo is not going to be the Continental part II. Diablo is for every one, a night club with an edge and surronded by creative design. At first glance you would never take Jesse as a successful entrepreneur, but with this mans previous track record of business ventures, Club Diablo is bound to be a favorite.
Stay informed and I'll see you on Washington Street.

Rebirth: Todd McFarlane Prepares to Release a Newer More Bad Ass Spawn
Found in ... Flick Picks & the Boob-Tube , Some Kind`a News

Ugo.com has published an interview with Spawn creator Todd McFarlane today. Funny; when I was in highschool I was a huge Spawn fan, but after the flop of the 1997 live action film I have seemed to lost interest. This interview I am refiring to is pretty interesting, it certainly tells you what the hell he's been doing for the past 5 years -besides making toys- and it dives into what his future plans are for Spawn. One of the more curiosity raising subjects was the mention of a new animated series that is aimed for cabel or theatrical distribution and will be titled "Cronicles of Al Simons" -or something like that-. T.M does state that he uses Jaws as one of his inspirations in the series, making Spawn much more allusive and hidden. The interview also continues to cover his new series titled "Twisted Tales" which will be airing on will air on Fox in the near future. McFarlane has also been commissioned to continue the Simpsons toy line -which has been very popular among collectors (Bukezilla)-. So there you have it, a brief wrap up of the future of one of our favorite superheros. With any luck it wont go stale like his other ventures.

Bledsoe Bashes Buffalo at Dallas Press Conference; and Rightly Soe
Found in ... Some Kind`a News
Bledsoe signed a three-year contract yesterday with the Dallas Cowboys, one day after being booted by the geniuses of the Buffalo Bills. Mainly due to Drew’s “Soe Soe” performance during the start up of the 2004 season, that depressing final match up versus Pittsburgh’s J.V squad and of course to free up some cabbage so that the Bills franchise can have more play room with their salary cap. At the press conference Drew bashed the Bills a bit which is rightly so, I think the Bills are making a terrible decision and I hope Drew goes to the G.D Super Bowl next season.
"I was very hopeful that this would be the opportunity for me," said Bledsoe. "I'm very excited to be a Dallas Cowboy. I can't wait to go home and dress my kids with the little stars and get rid of all the old gear from the other team."He continued to mention how disappointed he was with how the Bills organization simply handed over the starting spot to youngster J.P. Losman. I agree, it is so funny – and I am sure other Buffalo fans may disagree with me – that every time the Bills show some signs of light, we go and change it up ruining our chances of success. In a perfect world Losman will emerge as the next Tom Brady and lead the Bills to the big show in 2006. But let’s get serious people, this is going to divide the players and the fans resulting in friction much like the vibe generated during the Flutie and Johnson days. The Bills will need at least a seasons worth of development and I can assure you that the Bills fans here in snowy Buffalo are not looking forward to another rebuilding period. But what the hell do I know.

R.I.P: Dr. Gonzo - Hunter S. Thompson
Found in ... Some Kind`a News
This morning on my way into work I was listening to local radio morning hosts Shred and Regan, and while reading the news they let us know of the death of writer Hunter S. Thomson. Aparently Hunter commited suicide by blowing his mushy brains out of the back of his head. For those of you who are familiar with the type of character Dr. Thomson was, he was a bit on the kookie side - and this exit is not so off color for him -. A life of drugs, alcohol and what ever else he could experiment with, a true psychodelic explorer - so needless to say his mind was a little off -. Hunter was also a fan of armory, and it was well known that he kept many loaded guns and other weapons in his house and on his person. So at the age of 64 the inovator of Gonzo Journalism has left us to persue other adventures. He will be missed, and Hunter is you are out there, look out for the bats.

"This Groundhog is never going to stop if he keeps seeing his shadow; he has to be stopped; and I am the one to stop him"
Found in ... Some Kind`a News
Earlier I created a post all about the glory of Groundhog Day. But my machine crashed and I lost the whole thing. So this is going to be a sloppy second version which is not going to be exciting or remotly interesting compaired to its original. It was such a great post, I bashed Puxatony Phil -whos website seems to be down- for being the most popular groundhog, when we have plenty of them out there to love and admire. Such as General Beauregard Lee Ph.D from Liburn Georgia -I just love the name Beauregard-. There is also New Yorks own Dunkirk Dave from Dunkirk N.Y -I work in Dunkirk and I know why the seats are empty for that one-. Finally my favorite is Mr. Prozac a weather telling Lama from Oxford Michigan.
Noah John, Oxford’s beloved one-eyed weather prognosticating groundhog passed away on April 22, 2002 as a result of injuries sustained in a traffic accident in 1998. Before Noah John died, he met several times with his llama friend Mr. Prozac and instructed Zac in the art of weather prognosticating.I thought I have seen some things, but these towns people are just plain wacky. You can view the complete list at Groundhog Central and surprissing enough, it's a pretty funny site. So have a happy Groundhog Day -even though Phil saw his shadow this morning-. There's a question for you. If Phil sees his shadow in Penn. and Beauregard doesn't see his in Georgia, how does the whole weeks of winter thing work? Must be one of those pradox's of the Universe or something

Napster to Allow Movie Downloads
Found in ... Some Kind`a News
Johnny C. over at The Movie Blog posted today about the future of Napster. It seems that the site is planning on adding movies to the list of downloads -for its paying customers of course- CEO Chris Gorog was quoted saying.
"We are currently considering moving into video, particularly to tap the younger video-game generation", told to delegates, according to the Financial Times. "I do think that while there are huge players in the delivery of movies like Sky, there could be a role for Napster".Online movie distribution has already taken off to a small degree in the US, with MovieLink and CinemaNow selling films via the web from $2.99 upwards.
Pretty interesting stuff; the article on C|Net continues to state:
Nevertheless, analysts are predicting legal film downloads could be a winner. Since the advent of broadband, film downloads have surged considerably; one in four people online have now downloaded a film, according to the MPAA. Such statistics have encouraged Napster and others to eye the market.
So Johnny, when is The Movie Blog going to take advantage of this idea?

Depression Sets in after Buffalo Loss
Found in ... Some Kind`a News
Yesterday I didn't post to the blog since I was to f'n depressed to even look at it. See the god damn Buffalo Bills lost to the Pitsburge J.V. squad on Sunday, and I was there to see it all unfold. There was about 10 of us who packed up and headed out to the Ralph on Sunday morning. It was to be a great day of BBQ tailgaiting, Labatts Blue, Whisky and 2 hand touch. Then the swan song of the day would have been seeing our home team make it into the playoffs for the first time in years, and after digging themselves out of a hole and producing spectacular wins in the past 6 weeks. My friends and I spent over the standard amount for tickets from scalpers, and sat surrounded by smelly Steeler fans. Then to top it all off, some team wearing Bills uniforms lost the game to fricken back ups. I don't understand, where were the Bills? You tell me. Then the Rams won, which pretty much would have put us in the playoffs. GOD DAMN IT!!!

How Sweet are the Buffalo Bills?
Found in ... Some Kind`a News
Totally awsome weekend. Finally those bumbs at Inside the NFL will start talking about the Bills and their 5 game winning streak. Of course the wide card slot for the playoffs is still a small hope, but non the less these boys have shown me something that I have not seen in a Bills team for years. First off, thery are the first Bills team to win this many away game scince our Super Bowl team in 95 -I could be wrong about the year-. Also they have scored more points than any onther Bills team in history within the last games. Well more points than any other roster within 5 games. The Bills played spectacular against a unpredictible Cincinnati team. The Bengals have known to come strong, I mean just look at their prior game Vs. the Patriots. They only lossed by one touchdown, which for any team in the NFL this is an accomplishment, and a well layed game.
McGahee did get injured in the 2nd quarter yesterday, and it is commented that he will sit out of next Sundays game against the 49ers. Which I think is fine, San Fran is the worst team in the NFL and I see no problems next week. I feel much more comfortable letting Willis rest up so he can be at 100% for the finally Vs. the Steelers.
TKO Spikes had a key interseption run in for 6 points. This obviously was very important for Takeo since the Jungle was once his home field in Cincinnati. Playing against your old team -unless your Drew Bledsoe- is always a fun day.
Granted Jacksonville won yesterday, but Baltimore did not, which does make things better for us at home. All we need is to finish up the regular season strong, and we can possibily beat the Jets in a tie for the playoff spot. Lets just hope that the NY Jets fall apart in these wanning weeks.

Google Fraud
Found in ... Some Kind`a News
Slashdot had a very interesting posting today, discussing fraudulent clicks on thier Ad-Sense program. If your not familiar with Ad-Sense, your looking at it buddy. The ads by google on the side of my blog and on the individual pages are powerd by Ad-Sense. When I started up with it, the disclaimer agreement states that fraudulent clicks will not be accounted for, plus I figured they could track IP addresses or something. But shit, if Google is getting concerned about it, I should take advantage of it now, before they do begin to take proactive steps.

Kazaa; Not Just Some Stupid Shaq Movie
Found in ... Some Kind`a News
On SlashDot today I was reading this interesting post about the Kazaa trial. Number one; I didn't know Kazaa was on trial, and B; although an interesting post by Tim, I could give a rats pooper about Kazaa on trial. Now I do have fond memories of downloading, sharing or what ever you want to call it (Arrrrrr ye buck), from Kazaa. But soon after the massive amounts of KMFDM and Faith No More tracks recorded live from Putastain and the artsy filmography of "Jizz on my ass you booty man", my computer begain to react in an ill manner. Yes I was bombarded with spy ware and the PCU was always used up by the software. Not only that but I also remember getting so frustrated with the machine, I reformatted the sucker and started from scratch. So I say go to hell Kazaa, you go to hell and you die. I'm using Limewire now, and they have "Booty Man" too.
